OverviewDickwella Resort has a prized location, on a headland surrounded by two sandy and tranquil beaches, on a southern coast where one stunning beach is normally deemed quite sufficient. This laid-back collection of cabanas makes an appealing staging point between the historic fortress town of Galle, to the west, and the national parks of Bundala and Yala to the east, as well as offering uplifting beach accommodation in its own right. The Dickwella Resort has had a makeover. The tsunami inflicted heavy damage on the old Dickwella Village resort, but after a prolonged renovation programme, it has reappeared in a slightly more upmarket guise, offering appealing mid-market accommodation, both to independent travellers and the package market. Previous visitors will sense an old friend in a slightly different guise.RoomsDickwella now boasts a greater range of accommodation. It has eight suites, 10 two-storey "duplex rooms" in two small terraces and 28 deluxe rooms. All possess breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. All rooms are ensuite and possess a/c and fan, balcony or verandah, ICC phone and minibar. Duplex rooms and suites also possess: four-poster canopy bed, timber flooring, widescreen satellite tv, separate lounge, hair dryer, vanity and two basins.
